Seward Park - Forest Restoration: MLK Day of ...01/16/2012
Host: Seward Park Audubon
Activities
Blackberry, Ivy, and Holly, oh my!
These three invasive species spend all their time stealing sunshine from and crowding out our native forest plants and don't even bother to provide good habitat for the animals. Come spend the day with your friends and co-workers pulling ivy, wrenching holly, and digging up blackberry all in the name of restoration! We'll provide all the gloves and tools you need.
**Snow plan: In the event of possible adverse weather conditions, the event will be cancelled if King County Metro decides to run it's buses on snow routes the day of the event. Please check their website http://metro.kingcounty.gov/, for this information the morning of the event. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or to confirm the status of the event.
Open to the public
All ages OK
9 out of 20 volunteers registered.
What to Bring
All you need to do is wear long pants and sturdy shoes, bring a lunch, and be ready to get physical! The work will be hard but the impact you make will help us Save Seward Park!
Where to Meet
We are meeting all groups at Picnic Shelter 3 of the park. Don't worry if you have no idea where that is, just stop in by our nature center, which is the old Tudor style brick building at the park's main entrance.
